I’ve never really been a massive fan of horse racing, I remember being little and putting a bet on during the Grand National but that’s about it.
We were invited along to check out the under 18s race free family day at Chepstow and I was impressed. We didn’t get to see many races because they were called off after the second one. The course wasn’t safe enough to ride on (I’m not entirely sure why) but I was pretty happy to find out how the safety of the animals and jockeys come above anything else.
Family days at the races are the perfect way to please the whole family, especially if the adults already love watching the racing. Between races there are other activities on offer from food stalls to fun fair rides, there’s so much to fit in and with the kids going free its such good value for money. We got to see Paw Patrol and Andy Day among other things but to see whats at your nearest event check out Under18sracefree. There’s fun quizzes and more info on the site too. I took the which famous horse are you quiz and got Altoir… not sure how accurate it is. Let me know who you get!
If you are going to the races for the first time then check out these must dos. I wish we would have seen these before we went because there’s some great ideas.
Have you ever been horse racing?
Until the next post,
Are and Pops.
We were invited along to the event to share our thoughts.
