Rustlers – How to hack a burger.

Whether you’re a stay at home parent or one that works we can all appreciate how hard dinner time can be.

After school clubs, deadlines, homework and the non stop cleaning that comes with having children (seriously, how do they make so much mess?)

Rustlers are a quick and convenient. A great option when you don’t fancy the faff of preheating the oven or watching over the hob. They cook in the microwave in minutes!

 

Pops and I don’t eat meat but MM does sometimes, I can never justify buying meat for just one person because I hate the idea of it going to waste, plus I don’t even know where to start cooking it anymore.

For a burger night this weekend however, we picked up a Rustlers burger for MM. On their own they are not much of a meal but with a bit of imagination (to be fair you don’t need much) you can make it a proper family meal… that hopefully even the fussy ones will like.

How we topped our burgers?

  • Cucumber
  • Tomato
  • Gherkin
  • Red onion
  • Halloumi cheese
  • Tomato and Mayo sauces

Pops and I had meat free burgers but we all all the same toppings and sides. I chopped the veg and cooked the sides and grilled the halloumi (totally optional but wow was it good).

Having the toppings all ready and the same made it so easy to pick and add. It also didn’t feel like we were eating any differently.

What sides did we have?

  • Chips
  • Onion rings

Although a well filled burger is amazing it’s not a whole meal. We added Chips and Onion rings to ours. Frozen, who’s got time to peel and chop real chips all the time.

We usually always go with square cheese when we have burgers but the halloumi was such a great addition!
