Mother's Day

5 Mother’s Day gifts that mums actually want.

I’ve never really expected much for mother’s day, Pops is only 3 and it’s always so close to my birthday that I don’t feel I ever really need a gift.

Here are some gift ideas mums actually want this mothers day;

Nobody can prepare you for the lack of sleep you will get as a parent, I’m not even talking about the newborn stage. It seems kids of all ages just don’t enjoy letting their parents get a full nights sleep. I can’t imagine any mum out there would pass up the chance for an undisturbed lie in or nap, save yourself the money on flowers and just let mum REST!

A few hours to let mum be. A nice relaxing bath with new bath products she loves or even that book she’s wanted to read for awhile? A shopping trip to buy some well needed and well deserved new clothes? Some new craft supplies? Whatever your mum feels most relaxed and themselves doing… I’d settle for doing a wee in peace most days!

There’s no question how much we adore our kids but sometimes a day away from it all is exactly what’s needed. A spa day, trip to the cinema or even an afternoon tea with their friends (get their OH to chip in too). Let mum recharge her batteries.

In some cases, a day off is simply a day out that mum hasn’t had to plan herself!

Whats your mums / OH’s favourite chocolate? This is something we should all know! Chocolate with the promise it won’t be eaten while mum’s not looking . It’s only for sharing if mum decides it is.

An other half who for one day (we’d love more but it’s probably asking too much) does the jobs you ask them to do constantly, not the big ones, just those little ones like picking up clothes and taking food out of the sink or even being the bad guy when the kids play up…

Kids that don’t argue with each other or you about anything and everything.

No shouting or moaning. Just a happy family day!

All us mums are asking for this mother’s day is a little bit of effort, something personal to us and that doesn’t even have to cost a penny. Although if a hint has been dropped for an actual gift… then make sure you get that too!

What would you like this mother’s day?

Thanks to Georgina, Kayley, Jennifer, Eva, Jenny, Lianne, Becky, Hayley, Danielle, Victoria, Kelly, Lucie. Simone and Hanna for their suggestions.

Until the next post,

Are and Pops.

  1. Haha this is absolutely brilliant! Also, I’m pretty sure it is also very true, not just for Mother’s Day but also for things like birthdays and Christmas!

  2. Haha this is so true although I am pretty lucky, my Hubby gets up with the kids now all the time so I get plenty of sleep, I am trying to avoid chocolate at the moment and I go to the gym whilst the kids are at school which I guess classes as ‘me time’. I don’t really know what I want for Mother’s Day but i’m looking forward to a trip to the cinema with the kids and my Mum. Hope you have a great day x

  3. Yes please to all of those – such good choices. Mind you my boys are awful. I live in France when Mother’s Day is on a different Sunday to the UK. So on the UK one they say I will have to wait to the French one and on the French one they say I am British so it doesn’t count. BOYS!!
