We were invited along to the Benugo Cafe inside John Lewis Cardiff to try their new spring menu.
First up was a simple, light and delicious couscous!
I wasn’t too concerned with Pops eating it because she absolutely loves couscous, she’s never had radish though so I wasn’t sure about that. I kept quiet that it was something new and it didn’t even get acknowledged. She even had a second helping – as did I!
It contains celery, radish, tomato, peppers and fresh herbs – sounds so simple and easy (really want to try and make this at home!)
I could have happily sat and ate all of the couscous it was so nice but we were brought out some wraps to try next. The middle eastern wrap was most definitely my favourite thing of the whole lunch. Humus, Feta, Taziki, Falafel -Some of my favourite things.
They then brought out a chicken and nduja wrap – We don’t eat meat so obviously didn’t try it. I did overhear a few others say it tasted nice but had a little heat. I looked it up and nduja is a spicy spreadable sausage (incase you didn’t know)
The glorious food didn’t stop there – then came the sandwiches…
Even the most ‘basic’ sounding like ham and cheese are something special. Sour dough baguette, ham, Emmental and Dijon mustard mayo. – not your ordinary ham and cheese.
The sandwich we were most interested in (only veggie option we were given but definitely the best sounding of the three) a cheddar and apple rhubarb chutney baguette – it came in a multigrain baguette and tasted as amazing as it sounds – VERY.
Room for afters? Always.
They then presented plates full of Millionaires shortbread, Chocolate brownies and gluten free lemon cake. They tasted amazing, although you probably could have guessed that.
Not only was the food delicious and the veggie options so good but the actual cafe atmosphere was amazing. So bright and open. I’d definitely be visiting again and I highly recommend!
Until the next post,
Are and Pops.
